New and Noteworthy (Fringe's Ratings, Iain Banks)

Recently of interest:

* Just as FOX did terminal damage to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles long-term prospects by first running it head-to-head against Chuck Monday nights (forcing the two shows to compete for essentially the same small pool of viewers, which also ended up mortally wounding Chuck in the ratings), and then shifting it to another lousy time slot Friday night, Airlock Alpha is reporting that the move of Fringe to Thursdays seems to be taking a serious toll on that show.

* An interview with Iain M. Banks in The New Statesman, talking about, among other things, the socialist foundations of the Culture, the challenges of writing compelling drama inside a Utopia, and the vote on Scottish independence.
