The Indie Publishing Scene: Book Review Blogs

There are those who dream of a day when Big Publishing ceases to dominate its business, supplanted once and for all by independent writers who do not have to sacrifice control over their art to reach an audience.

That day is not here, and indeed might never arrive, but there is no question that the business has seen some change in recent years. E-books and print-on-demand have played significant roles in this change. So have social media, like book review blogs, which give independent authors opportunities to be reviewed and promoted outside the usual channels from which independents, regrettably, continue to be shut out.

Speculative fiction has been at the forefront of these changes. In line with this, I have recently added to the round-ups of genre resources from around the web a listing of book review blogs with an emphasis on new science fiction releases, and especially self-published science fiction, as a utility for genre readers and writers alike.

The list is very much in the early stages of its development, but it is my hope to make this listing comprehensive. For that reason, while this blog generally welcomes feedback from readers, I am now making a point of inviting everyone who publishes or writes for such a blog to submit the name and address of that blog here. You can report your blogs in the "Comments" below, or use the e-mail address provided on the "About this Site" page.

Thank you for your contributions.
