Skyfall's U.S. Opening Weekend: The Numbers

In line with the more bullish estimates, Skyfall took in over $30 million on its first day of release in the United States, and an estimated $87.8 million during the weekend. This has pushed the global total past the half billion dollar mark (some $518 million in the till at this moment), with hundreds of millions more to be made - a good part of them in the American market with the film now appearing certain to break the $200 million barrier in the United States, and an $800 million-plus global as good a bet as ever.

In Bond's home country of Britain, Skyfall has been doing even better, now ranking as the fourth biggest hit of all-time in that market with its $117 million banked to date.
