New and Noteworthy (Charles Stross, Tobias Buckell, George R.R. Martin)

In today's edition:

* Charles Stross offers a lengthy consideration of our current political frustration, in which he presents the concept of the "beige dictatorship."

* Tobias Buckell touches on the possibility of a generational shift to a less car-centered America (previously mentioned here).

* According to a Deadline story, George R.R. Martin will not only remain as coexecutive producer on HBO's hit Games of Thrones (which has gone from strength to strength in the ratings), but develop and produce new projects for the network. (One reaction to this bit of news I saw in the comments thread over at Rolling Stone: We're never seeing volume six of Games of Thrones, are we?)
